Police catch burg suspects in the act

Westminster police scored a couple of arrests of burglary suspects caught in the act.

According to the WPD, the first incident occurred on Tuesday around 11:45 a.m. when two officers responded to a citizen tip of a man on a bicycle “casing” a home in the 13300 block of Jasperson Street.

An officer searching the area and spotted a man trying to pry open the window of a house. The suspect fled on foot and briefly escaped, but a flood of WPD patrolmen and detectives, aided by the Huntington Beach police helicopter was also to find and arrest the man hiding in a nearby yard. He was arrested and police found evidence of stolen goods from other burglaries.

The second incident took place on Wednesday at 11:34 a.m. as three officers responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress near the 7100 block of Fenway. A police sergeant located the suspect, who was identified by witnesses. The suspect was arrested for multiple vehicle burglaries and for burglarizing a garage, then booked into Orange County Jail.

  1. On the one hand I’m so thankful you caught them! On the other it’s scary to be reminded of the crime that exists even in our awesome cities. But way to go WPD and HBPD!
