About 70 members of the homeless community attended the first multi-agency Homeless Outreach Program on Saturday coordinated by the Garden Grove Police Department. The event was held in
“It was a successful event. We helped more from the homeless community at this event than we did in previous homeless outreach efforts,” said Garden Grove Police Chief Todd Elgin.
Of the people who attended, four were immediately placed into a shelter program and one person will be re-united with family members in Arizona as a result of the outreach effort.
BOND ISSUE FOR GGUSD SEEN
The Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education will consider placing a bond issue measure on the Nov. 8 ballot when it meets on Aug. 9. The GGUSD would be joining the Westminster School District and the Ocean View School District in asking voters to fund modernization programs for local schools.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the Education Center, 10331 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove. It had originally been scheduled for Aug. 2. The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove and parts of Westminster and other adjoining cities.
