MOSQUITOES can carry the deadly West Nile virus.

Fighting mosquitoes and the diseases they can spread is becoming more urgent, as the number of adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus in 2016 has more than doubled in the past week.

According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, so far in 2016 a total of 113 samples have been collected in 22 Orange County cities, and the first instance of human West Nile infection locally has been reported.

The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District, headquartered in Garden Grove, announced on Friday the following facts.
