Arby’s fire in H. Beach extinguished

A PRE-DAWN fire at an Arby's fast foot eatery in Huntington Beach was put out by area firefighters.

A structure fire at an Arby’s fast food restaurant at Brookhurst Street and Garfield Avenue was knocked down this morning by firefighters from Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley.

LogoforNewsBriefsAccording to the HBFD, the blaze was reported at 4:57 a.m. at the eatery at 19051 Brookhurst Street. After the exterior fire was extinguished, a search of the building for any hidden fire was conducted. There were no injuries reported.

DIA DE LA FAMILIA ON SUNDAY

The annual Dia de La Familia (Day of the Family) will be held on Sunday from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Sigler Park in Westminster. The address is 7200 Plaza St., south of Westminster Boulevard.

Brodie's ART Template MASTERSponsored by the City of Westminster, the event will feature entertainment by a mariachi band and by a classic rock ensemble. There will be community information booths and vendors selling food and soft drinks.

At 2:45 p.m. the mayor and city council will observe the 15th anniversary of 9/11. There will be some remarks and a moment of silence.

HOME BUYER WORKSHOPS SET

The remaining First-Time Home Buyer Workshops for 2016 in Garden Grove are on Saturday, Sept. 24, and Saturday, Dec. 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. The two, eight-hour workshops are offered for those interested in the First-Time Homebuyer Program for low-income applicants purchasing their first home in Garden Grove.

To qualify for the program, the applicant must attend a First-Time Home Buyer workshop; meet the program income requirements; purchase a manufactured home in Garden Grove for under $120,000; occupy the manufactured home throughout the life of the loan; and cannot have owned a home in the past three years.
