Spiffed-up Ruby’s Diner on agenda

RUBY’S DINER has been at the end of the Huntington Beach Pier since 1993 (Wikipedia photo).

An upgraded and brilliantly-lit Ruby’s Diner restaurant is coming to the end of the Huntington Beach Pier, provided a proposed new lease agreement is approved at Monday night’s city council meeting.

The new lease deal will require the popular restaurant company, whose eateries feature a Forties motif, to invest over $160,000 in improvements to the building and pay a rent increase of one-half of one percent starting in 2022.

Also on the agenda for Monday will be second reading and final approval of an ordinance creating a deputy community prosecutor working with the Orange County District Attorney. Annual cost of the prosecutor would be around $145,000.

The council meets in its chambers in City Hall, 2000 Main St. with a study session at 4:30 p.m. and a regular session at 6 p.m.
