POLICE are investigating an incident in West Garden Grove where a stolen truck crashed into a home Wednesday morning.

POLICE are investigating an incident in West Garden Grove where a stolen truck crashed into a home Wednesday morning.

A stolen pickup truck crashed into a home in Garden Grove just before dawn Wednesday and the driver fled. According to Sgt. Ray Rex of the GGPD, the incident occurred in the 5300 block of Stanford Ave, in West Garden Grove at around 5:36 a.m.

The vehicle crashed into the one-story single family home near Westgrove Park, smashing into the garage area and inflicting “considerable damage” on the structure. Police officers and city building inspectors had to examine the house for hazards and structural integrity.

The owner of the truck, learning of the crash, showed up at the scene. He told police that he had left his truck unoccupied with the engine running in front of his house when it was stolen. The owner and a relative tried to pursue the truck in another vehicle.

There were no known injuries and an investigation is continuing.
