From bad barbers to The Boss, fun stuff to do and see this weekend in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area as September gives way to October and autumn really gets underway.

In local cinemas starting Friday:
- “Deepwater Horizon.” Based on the true story of the 2010 oil rig explosion, this PG-13 film stars Mark Wahlberg, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell and John Malkovich.
- “Masterminds.” Bumbling thieves are chased by police and a hit man. Starring Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig and Owen Wilson. Rated PG-13.
- “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.” A boy (Asa Butterfield) is sent to a mysterious island orphanage housing some very strange youngsters. Starring Eva Green and Samuel L. Jackson. Rated PG-13.
The macabre musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, “Sweeney Todd,” opens this weekend at the Gem Theater on Main Street in Garden Grove. One More Productions will be staging this production Thursdays through Saturday through Oct. 23. The Opening Night Gala will be this Saturday. - “Once on This Island” closes this weekend at the Rose Center Theater in All-American Way in Westminster. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. It’s a kids’ version of a Caribbean take on “The Little Mermaid” story.

If you were born to run, you might like “The Springsteen Experience: A Tribute to The Boss” at the Festival Amphitheater (AKA The Strawberry Bowl) on Main Street in Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
