AREA prep basketball teams won nine of 12 games on Thursday.
Local high school basketball teams from the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area won nine of 12 games Thursday night.
The boys’ teams won five of six and the girls won four of six. Top scorers for the boys’ were Chris Robertson and Joel Ceniceroz, both of Santiago, who scored 19 and 16 points respectively in the Cavaliers’ 68-57 win over Banning in the San Pedro Pirate Shootout Tournament. SHS squared its record at 7-7 with the win.
On the girls’ side, Frankie Wade Sanchez continued to shine for Huntington Beach. She scored 19 as the Oilers bested Mira Costa 53-45 in the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic. HBHS is now 9-5.
