Ducks lose their third straight game, 4-1

ANAHEIM DUCKS lost 4-1 to the New York Rangers Tuesday night.

The Ducks are in a bit of a funk. On Tuesday, the Anaheim entry in the National Hockey League suffered its third straight defeat, falling to the New York Rangers 4-1 at Madison Square Garden.

That loss dropped the Ducks to 28-17-10, putting them in a tie with the Edmonton Oilers for second place in the NHL Pacific Division. Each team had 66 points. They both trail the San Jose Sharks, in first with 70 points.

The lone Anaheim goal was scored by Jakob Silverberg (his 16th of the season) in the second period on a assist by Andrew Cogliano at the 6:14 mark. John Gibson had 16 saves in goal for the Ducks.

Anaheim is next in action on Thursday visiting the Buffalo Sabres in the fourth contest of a six-game road swing

EDISON FALLS TO LOS AL, SUNSET IS TIED

Los Alamitos High threw the Sunset League boys’ basketball race into a deadlock with a 54-47 upset of Edison Tuesday night in the Charger gym. The Griffs’ victory knotted up the league standings with both teams at 8-1 with a final game left to play on Thursday.

Edison fell behind by seven by halftime, but rallied to tie it up at the end of the third quarter. Randall Walker scored 19 to lead the Chargers, who are 21-4 overall. EHS finishes the regular season visiting last place Marina (1-8, 3-22).

Los Alamitos (20-6), which got 18 points from Joseph Riley Tuesday night, will close out at Fountain Valley (1-7, 9-16).
