Hollywood has its Walk of Fame. Westminster may have its own.

Councilwoman Margie Rice has proposed for discussion at Wednesday’s meeting of the Westminster City Council the creation of a Walk of Fame for the Little Saigon area along Bolsa Avenue.

According to a staff report, the project would consist of “plaques/emblems dedicated to individuals influential in the

development and history of the area,” which is the commercial center for the Vietnamese community in Orange County.

A location for the walk might be the north side of Bolsa Avenue across the street from the popular Asian Garden Mall. The 13-foot-wide sidewalks would accommodate such a layout.

The cost of the items to be used in such a walk would be borne by those wanting to honor the individuals they nominate, a cost which could range from $6,000 to $10,000 per installation.

City staff is suggesting that a committee be formed to determine eligibility for the honor and to oversee the design and creation of the plaque/emblem to be used.

Also on the agenda is discussion of federal legislative priorities in anticipation of a lobbying trip to Washington, D.C. March 14-16.

According to Marwan Youssef, public works director, the list includes:

The council meets in its chambers at 8200 Westminster Blvd. The public session begins at 7 p.m.
