Four dead, 20 hurt in London attack

Four people are dead and at least 20 others injured when a man wielding a knife attacked a police officer and others inside the gates of Parliament in London Wednesday morning.

Among the dead are the officer and the assailant, who was fatally shot by police. The two other fatalities were pedestrians on the city’s Westminster Bridge. Police are treating the incident as a terrorist attack, but there appeared to be only one attacker. An investigation is underway.
Parliament – the British version of the American Congress – was locked down for two hours. There was no initial identification of the attacker or the victims. Witnesses said that assailant was dressed in black.

Wednesday is the anniversary of suicide bombings in Brussels, Belgium which killed 32 people.
