Fill the boot, closing the ramp and more

FIREFIGHTERS will be raising money at Chapman and Harbor in Garden Grove on Saturday (GGFD photo).

Members of the Garden Grove Fire Department will be at Harbor Boulevard and Chapman Avenue on Saturday as part of the annual “Fill The Boot” campaign.

The firefighters will be soliciting funds for the benefit of the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Freeway offramp closed on Friday

The northbound offramp of the San Diego (405) Freeway at Westminster Boulevard in Westminster will be closed on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for landscape work, according to the California Department of Transportation.

Budgets on GG council agenda Tuesday

Proposed budgets for fiscal 2017-18 will be on the agenda of the Garden Grove City Council when it meets on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Also on the agenda will be:

  • a look at the 2016 annual progress report on the status of the general plan
  • a resolution amending user fees for various city services
  • a proposal to change the wording of two illuminated street signs on Bolsa Avenue to include some text in Vietnamese.

The meeting is held in the council chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.

Seniors have a fiesta on the Fourth

The H. Louis Lake Senior Center in Garden Grove will be hosting a fiesta on Wednesday, June 28 at 10 a.m. in advance celebration of Independence Day.

It was take place in the A & B rooms of the adjacent Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. Entertainment will be provided by the Serenaders, and attendees are encouraged to wear red, white and blue. Lunch will be available for a suggested donation of $3.50 per person.
