Beach Blvd. collapse being repaired

A COLLAPSED CULVERT on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach is the cause of pavement failure and is undergoing repair.

Emergency repairs are being performed on a section of Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach due to a pavement collapse which closed two lanes in Huntington Beach.

According to CalTrans, a failed culvert caused the void between Yorktown Avenue and Utica Avenue, closing two southbound lanes. The temporary fix is expected to be completed by Friday afternoon, with all six lanes open.

Permanent repairs will begin on Monday and will take an estimated three weeks. Work will start on the northbound side of Beach, with one lane remaining open to traffic on that side. Following that, efforts will shift to the southbound side, with one lane open there. Construction is expected to take place between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
