The Pacifica High School boys’ water polo team won its first-ever CIF-SS title on Saturday, capturing the Division 6 crown with a 9-8 win over Buena Park at Woolett Aquatics Center in Irvine.

With the victory, the M’s finished the season 25-4. The Coyotes finished with a 19-11 mark. Pacifica built an 8-5 lead, but had to hold off a strong BP rally, helped by a shot block by Trenton Toma in the closing seconds. The Mariners are also champs of Empire League.
