Perry, Roy shine in 4-2 win over Bruins

COREY PERRY had two assists in the Anaheim Ducks’ 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins Wednesday night.

Corey Perry had two assists and rookie Kevin Roy scored his first NHL goal as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 Wednesday night, earning an eighth-straight win over the team from the Bay State.

The Ducks (8-7-3) also got goals from Josh Manson, Nick Ritchie and Derek Grant in the contest at Honda Center. The win keeps the Orange County team in sixth place in the NHL Pacific.

“You’re always desperate for wins in this league,” Manson said. “We’re banged up right now. We have a lot of injuries. We’re trying to get through it and come out on the good side of it. Just trying to get through it until we get guys back. We’ve been doing a pretty decent job. There are a lot of things we need to tighten up on. The urgency is there right now to get some wins.”

The Ducks are playing without several of their regulars, including Ryan Getzlaf, Patrick Eaves, Ryan Kesler and Cam Fowler. John Gibson was back in goal, though, and had 39 saves in the effort.

Next on the schedule will be a game on Sunday in Anaheim against the Florida Panthers (6-9-2). “That’s what we talked about after the game, what’s ahead of us,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. “We have this time here to get our hockey club playing well and to make sure we take the necessary steps to prepare for Sunday because that’s the most important one. Hopefully we can build off a strong game there and carry it through into next week.”
