Nguyen and Co. provide holiday meals

STATE SEN. Janet Nguyen (in red) helped distribute food and other holiday treats to the needy.

For the third consecutive year, State Sen. Janet Nguyen (R-34th District) partnered with Lestonnac Free Clinic, the Golden State Water Company and Hyundai Motor America to distribute free Thanksgiving turkeys to the community. Thanks to these joint efforts, hundreds of families will enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal this holiday season.

“We are truly blessed to live in a community of generous and caring individuals who share my passion for serving the community,” said Nguyen. “As someone who grew up in a low-income household, I know that families can sometimes struggle to buy additional food during the holiday season. This is why, I am proud to continue the tradition of distributing turkeys through my office in partnership with Lestonnac Free Clinic, the Golden State Water Company and Hyundai Motor America.”

The distribution of turkeys began on Saturday morning at the Garden Grove United Methodist Church where Nguyen’s office and Lestonnac Free Clinic hosted a “Turkey Meal Giveaway.” Approximately 350 turkeys with accompanying boxes of stuffing and mashed potatoes were distributed. By the day’s end, Lestonnac Free Clinic distributed over 1,500 turkey meals at satellite locations throughout Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. These efforts were made possible thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Allen Boerner, CEO and Chairman of Granite Investment Group.

The spirit of giving continued on Monday morning with the third edition of “Operation Gobble.” The day’s festivities began at Nguyen’s district offfice where she and the Golden State Water Company distributed turkeys to key community partners including the Kiwanis Club of Santa Ana, Anaheim Harbor Resource Center, Tran Hung Dao Foundation, The Asian-American Senior Citizens Service Center, Coalition of the Republic of Viet Nam Veteran Association of Southern California and  Central Coordinator Republic of Viet Nam Armed Force in Southwestern USA. Following the distribution at her office, Senator Nguyen joined families in Anaheim at the Anaheim Harbor Family Resource Center where she shared her personal story and wished the families a joyous Thanksgiving.

In addition to the turkey distribution events made possible through her Senate District office, Nguyen was also on hand at Hyundai Motor America’s Corporate Office in Fountain Valley to help distribute 2,000 turkeys to the public.
