Two special meetings of the Garden Grove City Council will be held next week, centering on a three-hotel development on Harbor Boulevard, and the fate of the Willowick Golf Course.

The latter is set for Monday at 5:30 p.m. in a joint session with the Santa Ana City Council. It will be held in the first floor annex conference room of the Santa Ana City Hall, 1600 20 Civic Center Plaza.

The former will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the council chamber in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.

WILLOWICK Golf Course is owned by the City of Garden Grove but located within Santa Ana city limits.

Wednesday’s meeting will be focused on a revised development agreement – already approved by the planning commission ­­– with Investel Garden Resorts, LLC to build three hotels with 769 rooms combined on a 4.3 acre site on the east side of Harbor Boulevard, north of Twintree Lane.

The project will also include nearly 40,000 square feet of conference/meeting banquet space, nearly 37,000 square feet of restaurant/retail/entertainment space and about 24,000 square feet of hotel restaurant space.

At Monday’s meeting, the combined city councils will hold a study session on possible reuse of the golf course, a 101.5-acre parcel is owned by the City of Garden Grove but is located within the limits of Santa Ana at 3017 W. Fifth St.

As part of the two cities’ bid for Amazon’s second headquarters project, Willowick was held out as a possible location for that company’s operation. The land is located along the route of the planned OC Streetcar line, which will link the two cities. In the past, there has been discussion of a variety of projects there, including a professional soccer stadium or an amusement park.
