ONE PERSON was injured Sunday afternoon in an apartment fire in Huntington Beach (HBPD photo).
A Good Samaritan was injured trying to put out a fire in an apartment building in Huntington Beach Sunday afternoon.
According to Keita Sato, public information officer for the Huntington Beach Fire Department, the blaze was reported at 2:13 p.m. in a complex in the 6700 block of Warner Avenue. Ten HBPD units responded to the blaze, along with two from Fountain Valley.
Arriving firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from a second story kitchen window. They were able to confine the blaze to the one unit.
A Good Samaritan was hurt after entering the apartment to help the resident away from the flames. Another resident also helped evacuate the apartment resident. The injured person – who tried using an extinguisher on the flames – was evaluated by paramedics and taken to Orange County Global Hospital for further evaluation.
HBPD investigators were on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
