HIGH SCHOOL basketball results from Tuesday night for area schools.
Pacifica High’s boys’ basketball team stayed on course for an Empire League showdown with a 58-55 overtime win over Tustin Tuesday night at the Mariner gym.
Paolo Zubillaga’s three-pointer with seven seconds left in overtime lifted the M’s (13-6 overall) to a 3-0 mark in Empire League play. Cypress kept pace at 3-0 (15-4 overall) with an 81-29 win over Kennedy. The Mariners and the Centurions will collide in the Cypress gym on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
Zubillaga led the Mariners with 15 points and Andrew Brown added 14 more.
In Sunset League girls’ basketball action on Tuesday, Los Alamitos knocked Edison out of a first place tie with a 45-27 win over the Chargers. Los Al went to 4-0 in league play, with Edison and Huntington Beach a game back at 3-1.
Edison moved into that tie for second with a 62-37 win over Fountain Valley, paced by Finley Garnett’s 20 points.
