The proposed In-N-Out eatery on Harbor Boulevard near Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove is out, for the time being.
According to the city planning department, the application to build a 3,867-square foot restaurant with drive-through lanes on a 57,882-square foot lot has been withdrawn by the applicant. It was to go before the city Planning Commission on Thursday, Jan. 18 for approval.
The building was originally a Bob’s Big Boy restaurant, built in the Fifties in the “googie” futuristic style of architecture popular in the Eisenhower era. Proposed were some efforts to retain the original look of the Bob’s, but preservationists have been vocal in supporting a more “retro” look.
Under the proposal, the existing restaurant and adjacent Rocky Market would be demolished.

I lived here all my life and I want to see a In and Out!! We need to have change in Garden Grove and to have things build up in our city! That building in so unattractive and needs a facelift! Get with the times GG!!!!
The designs for in n out are plain and boring doesn’t catch my eye like Wendys, McDonald’s and Riaisng Canes. In n out burger is good just upgrade the design of the restaurant all white plain and Nd symbol it’s boring
