THE EDISON High boys’ basketball team won a key Sunset League game on Monday night.
Edison High’s boys basketball team took a long step towards locking up the Sunset League title with a 50-45 win over Newport Harbor in the Sailor gym on Monday night.
The Chargers stayed unbeaten in league at 7-0 and are 19-5 overall. Newport fell to 5-2 (18-6 overall), giving the Bolts a two-game lead with three Sunset games to play.
Matt Palma led Edison with 16 points, while David Atencio added 15. For Newport, Sam Barela led all scorers with 24.
Edison will next host Los Alamitos (4-2, 8-14) on Wednesday.
