Argos clinch a final Grove league title

GARDEN GROVE won its league title outright on Tuesday while Pacifica clinched second in its conference.

In its final season in the Garden Grove League, the Garden Grove High School boys’ basketball team clinched outright possession of the league title on Tuesday night with a 54-31 defeat of Rancho Alamitos.

Sebastian Castro scored 17 points and Jordan Harris added 14 as the Argonauts improved their GGL record to 9-0 and 25-1 overall. Garden Grove is ranked number one in CIF-SS Division 5-AAA. Rancho fell to 1-8, 5-20.

Across town, the Pacifica boys’ team clinched second place and a CIF playoff spot with a 59-49 win in an Empire League clash. Paulo Zubillaga had 24 points and Tyler Fabisiak 15 as the Mariners went to 7-2 in league and 17-8 overall.

Ducks bounce back in Buffalo

The Anaheim Ducks snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win over the Sabres in Buffalo on Tuesday night. Adam Henrique scored the game-winner in extra time.

Now 26-19-10 (worth 62 points and tied for third in the NHL Pacific) the Ducks will be back in action on Friday hosting the Edmonton Oilers.
