Hazmat teams cleans up a muriatic acid spill

The Huntington Beach Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team on Wednesday cleaned up a spill of muriatic acid on Graham Street just north of Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach.

The alarm came in at 5:24 p.m. and the operation took one hour and 37 minutes to complete, according to the HBFD.

City public works personnel handled the disposal of the acid. Three HBFD units assisted.

Muriatic acid is a corrosive, strong mineral aid used in manufacturing. It can emit a dangerous gas that can cause injuries to lungs and skin.
