Second place looks pretty good when you’ve spent months trying to get out of fourth. Backed by a 36-save performance by goalie John Gibson, the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Washington Capitals 4-0 Tuesday night at Honda Center.

The win lifted the Ducks into second place in the NHL Pacific with a 34-21-12 record worth 89 points.

Anaheim got goals from Adam Henrique, Hampus Lindholm, Rickard Rakell and Nick Ritchie.

”I think we’re just playing, like we have the last few years,” Gibson said. ”It’s been a different year as far as injuries and personnel and whatnot, but we’re all here now and we want to make the most of it.”

Next up for the Ducks will be a game in Nashville against the Predators on Thursday.
