A DRUNK DRIVING and driver’s license enforcement efforts will be set up in Garden Grove For Cinco de Mayo.
Cinco de Mayo has become a deadly holiday due to drunk and drugged driving. Forty people were killed in impaired driving crashes across the nation during the Cinco de Mayo holiday period in 2015.
Officers from the Garden Grove Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team will be conducting a DUI / Driver’s license checkpoint on May 5 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
From 2011-2015, 270 people were killed nationwide in impaired driving crashes during the Cinco de Mayo holiday period.
Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving, which now accounts for a growing number of impaired driving crashes.
More karaoke for Stanton?
A public hearing for the establishment of a restaurant with live entertainment including karaoke tops the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting of the Stanton Planning Commission.
The CUP would allow for a liquor license for the serving and sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits in conjunction with a bona fide restaurant that will include six karaoke rooms and musical acts performing background music during lunch and or dinner in the main dining area.
The commission meets in Stanton City Hall, 7800 Katella Ave., at 6:30 p.m.
