A proposal to consolidate seven parcels of land into one for the construction of a 12-unit hotel in a mixed-use building will go before the Huntington Beach Planning Commission on Tuesday, May 8.

The project would be a three-story structure at 17145 Pacific Coast Highway (near the southwest corner at 4th Street in the Sunset Beach area) with three- and four-bedroom units on the second and third floor, and commercial space on the ground floor.

If approved, the project will require the demolition of an existing car wash. The California Coastal Commission’s approval must also be obtained.

Warning sirens will be tested Friday

Can you hear me now?

The City of Huntington Beach will test its outdoor warning siren system this Friday (May 4) at noon.

Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach will all conduct the test from local fire stations to see if the sound of the sirens is traveling to the designated coverage areas.

Otherwise, Surf City sounds its sirens on the first Friday of every month at 12 p.m.
