OUT of resources, border officials won’t be turning over adults with children illegally crossing the Mexican border to prosecutors.
Citing a shortage of facilities, U.S. officials will at least temporarily stop turning migrants crossing the Mexican border with children over to prosecutors.
The announcement was made on Monday at a processing center in McAllen, Texas.
Presidential press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “We’re not changing the policy,” Ms. Sanders said. “We’re simply out of resources.” She expressed that Democrats needed to work with the administration to help reduce the number of people seeking to enter the U.S. illegally.
President Donald Trump has advocated a “zero tolerance” program for those crossing the border without legal status.
