The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim lost to the Baltimore Orioles 8-2 at Camden Yards, allowing the home team to snap a seven-game losing streak.
Deck McGuire, the Halos’ latest unknown starter, got lit up for five hits and five runs in 3.1 innings, and the bullpen only did a bit better.
Manny Machado and former Angel Mark Trumbo each homered to allow the O’s to salvage the third game of the series and avoid a sweep.
Kole Calhoun and Albert Pujols represented the offense of the Orange County team. Pujols singled home Kole Calhoun in the first for a brief 1-0 lead, and Calhoun homered in the eighth for the second run.
The Halos (43-42) will have Monday off, and then travel to Seattle to take on the Mariners. The M’s are 54-31, a half-game behind the Houston Astros (55-31) in the American League West. The Angels are 11.5 games back.
