THE LOCAL high school football season starts event earlier this year. Six local teams are ranked in the Top 10s by the CIF-SS.

Six local high school teams are ranked in pre-season Top 10s announced Monday by the CIF-SS. These are schools serving the Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster communities.

In Division 4, Pacifica is rated third. Ocean View tops Division 11, and Western is 10th in that group.

Division 9 has the biggest local representation, with Orange in fourth, Garden Grove in fifth and Westminster in eighth. The Panthers and Argonauts will meet in an early season test on Aug. 24.

Orange won a CIF-SS title in 2017 and advanced to the state championship game. Grove won another Garden Grove League crown and has been moved to the Golden West Conference.
