Stanton is now on the lookout for a new city manager.

According to Matthew Peralta, public information officer for the city, James A. Box submitted his resignation as Stanton’s top manager on Thursday.

The city will begin searches for an interim and full-time city manager immediately.  In the meantime, Stephen M. Parker will function as acting city manager.

Box took over the post in 2012, capping an 11-year career with the city. He had previously been director of parks and recreation, and then assistant city manager.

  1. The first time I met Jim was at a “Citizens Academy” at which he was the first presenter. I was very impressed by his presentation and he continued to impress me favorably during the remainder of his tenure. I will miss him greatly. I wish him the best in whatever position he finds himself. Jim told me during one conversation that he intended to stay with the city, he had no plans to move. I wonder what prompted the resignation.
