Ohtani shines, but Barria does not

The Los Angeles Angels muffed a chance to square their won-lost record Monday night when they opened a home stand in Anaheim with a 5-2 loss to the Texas Rangers.

Texas put up four runs in the top of the second inning, getting all the scoring the Rangers would need. The Angels fell to 71-73 while the visitors saw their record improve to 62-82.

Shohei Ohtani had two hits including a double and an RBI. Now serving as the DH, he’s hitting .294 and was named American League player of the week for his performance last week.

Mike Trout also had two hits to raise his average to .317.

Angel starter Jaime Barria (10-9) was pulled after three innings. He gave up three hits and four runs. He walked four batters and struck out two.

Jim Johnson (5-3) will start for the Angels on Tuesday.
