Local fire department is staying busy

SIX PERSONS were injured in a two-car crash in Garden Grove at Westminster Avenue and Newhope Street (GGFD photo).

A fire in Garden Grove did an estimated $60,000 in damage to a garage at a home on Monday.

According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Garden Grove Fire Department, the blaze was at a location in the 13400 block of Hope Street.

The fire took about 20 minutes to knock down. The value of the loss was estimated at $60,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents. There were no injuries and the blaze did not spread to the house.

In another incident on Sunday, the GGPD responded to a two-car collision at Westminster Avenue and Newhope Street that resulted in one vehicle overturned and six persons injured.

Police from Garden Grove and Santa Ana investigated and Orange County Fire Authority and Fountain Valley Fire Department assisted.
