The inaugural “Re: Imagine Garden Grove – Art in the Park” event, hosted by the City of Garden Grove, in partnership with the Garden Grove Unified School District, is on Saturday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Village Green Park, located at 12732 Main St.
Features added to the free event include a “Fairy Garden Pathway,” created by students from 48 Garden Grove elementary schools; a 50-foot-long lettering of “Re: Imagine Art in the Park,” designed by art students from eight Garden Grove high schools and Bell Intermediate School; do-it-yourself
Attendees can also enjoy watching plein air art demonstrations, muralists at-work, and temporary art installations.
At 12:30 p.m., members of the Garden Grove City Council and GGUSD’s Board of Education will join the Garden Grove Community Foundation (GGCF) in presenting two, $1,000 checks to Los Amigos and Santiago high schools for winning the Grove Art Installation contest. The schools’ art students and teachers will be placing temporary ecology- and diversity-themed installations throughout a grove of 24 trees at the northeast corner of Euclid Street and Stanford Avenue.
The “Art in the Park” event is part of the city’s continuing efforts to brand Garden Grove’s downtown, while promoting the Re: Imagine Garden Grove mission of bringing more art to the community. The GGUSD partnership in intended to further reinforce and support the district’s goal to continue elevating its arts presence and distinction within Orange County.
