One not-so-bright sign was a groin injury to Mike Trout, but Tommy LaStella took over home run-hitting for the Halos, slamming in a couple. The home team scored six runs in the first inning, signaling a slugfest in which the teams combined with 19 runs and 22 hits.
Yasmani Grandal homered twice for the Brewers (8-4).
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday.
Scoreboards worked double time
The hitters were having a field day as four prep teams reached the 20-run mark on Tuesday. Santiago High excelled both in baseball and softball, as the Cavaliers scored 32 and 20 runs.
In a lower scoring contest, Pacifica solidified its grip on first place in the Empire League softball race as the M’s blanked the Fighting Irish 4-0. The Mariners are 9-3-1 overall and 4-0 in EL play.
