A SECOND TRY at creating a homeless center in Huntington Beach will be the subject of a study session at Monday’s meeting of the city council (Shutterstock).
Monday could be a long day for the Huntington Beach City Council.
The council will convene at 3:30 p.m. and the hot topic has been the plan to establish a homeless shelter – billed as a “navigation center” – in an industrial area of the city.
At the last meeting of the council, an earlier version of the plan for a site near Marina Park and Marina High School brought a storm of protest.
Two open houses were held on the proposal, on April 9 and 13. No final decision is expected to be made on Monday.
The study session – which is open to the public – will be followed at 5 p.m. by a closed session at 5 p.m., with the regular meeting slated to begin at 6 p.m.
Huntington Beach’s council meets in its chamber in the Civic Center at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
