Two GG youths hurt, 1 killed in crash

TWO PEOPLE were killed and three others seriously injured in a crash Saturday in Santiago Canyon. One of the deceased was from Garden Grove, as were two of the injured (Shutterstock).

Two Garden Grove youths were seriously injured and a third fatally in a crash early Saturday morning in Santiago Canyon. The driver, a Santa Ana resident, is also dead and a Santa Ana youth also suffered major injuries.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. in the community of Silverado. The vehicle in which the victims were riding veered off the road, breached a barbed-wire fence and struck a tree.

The Orange County Coroner’s office listed the deceased as Colton (or Coleton) Mondy, 17, of Garden Grove, and Joshua Morales, 17, of Santa Ana.  Injured were Luiz Hernandez, 19, and Unique Valdez, 18, of Garden Grove and Daniel Clark, 18, of Santa Ana.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
