For a guy hitting .243, Kole Calhoun is having an MVP-type impact on the fate of the Los Angeles Angels.
For the second consecutive game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, the Halo right fielder led the charge for the team, resulting in a 3-2 win.
Moreover, the Orange County team kept playoff hopes alive, moving to within four games of a wild card spot.
On Wednesday, Calhoun was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run (his 23rd of the season) for the second straight game. He also scored a run. The victory gave the Halos wins in all four Freeway Series games.
“It’s good,” Calhoun said. “Today is another step in the right direction, especially against a team like that. It’s a great ballclub over there. We know that. It’s a great little rivalry over here. It’s definitely nice to sweep.”
The Angels will now come home to take on the Baltimore Orioles in Anaheim today (Thursday). Jose Suarez (2-1) will make the start for the Halos.
