THE WEATHER should be sunny most of the week in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Stanton Westminster area.

We know, it’s the beginning of the week and maybe you’re still too unfocused to think about the week ahead, but –as the song goes – “don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.”  We did it for you if you’re from the area of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.

WEATHER:  It’s been a mild summer so far, but things will heat up a bit this week, with humidity on the increase this week. Temps will rise from the low 80s on Monday to 90 on Wednesday, then fall back by the weekend in the Garden Grove-Stanton area. For Westminster-Huntington Beach, temps will be cooler, especially the closer you get to the shore.

MEETINGS:  Garden Grove City Council meets on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., with the Westminster council convening at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

ENTERTAINMENT: A thin week for major new movie releases. Here’s what’s what:

EVENTS: Free summer concert on Thursday on Main Street in Garden Grove by DSB, a Journey tribute band. Event runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Also on Thursday, a free concert in Westminster’s Sunken Garden by the dance band Yard Sale from 6-7:30 p.m.

Ginger and the Hoosier Daddies will perform a free concert in Huntington Beach Central Park on Sunday from 5-7 p.m.

LOOKING AHEAD: The 20th annual Elvis Festival is set for Sunday, Aug. 25 on Main Street in Garden Grove, from 6-8 p.m.

Classes resume in the Garden Grove Unified School District on Wednesday, Aug. 28. They’ll start on Thursday, Aug. 29 for the Westminster School District.

Other “opening days” for local districts are Aug. 28 for Huntington Beach Union High School District, Sept. 3 for Ocean View School District and Sept. 5 for Huntington Beach City School District.
