The first hints of autumn… still about a month away … are starting to show. Patches of fog, cooler weather and some early local football action.

WEATHER:  Cloudy in the morning and evenings in the area including Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster through Wednesday. Temps will range from low 80s to mid-70s, depending on how close you are to the beach. Thursday should be sunny, but patchy low fog is expected for the rest of the week through Sunday.

MEETINGS: Major government or other public interest meetings this week include:

EVENTS: The 20th annual Elvis Festival will be held on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Garden Grove.

ENTERTAINMENT: Another lean week at the cinema for major new releases. Topping the list is “Angel Has Fallen,” again starring Gerard Butler as an ace Secret Service agent. This time he is framed for an assassination attempt on the president (Morgan Freeman).

SPORTS:  The brand new stadium at Bolsa Grande High School will make its debut on Friday when the home Matadors host the Tigers from Bosco Tech in Rosemead in a 7 p.m. game.

But those aren’t the only area high school teams in action this week. Here’s the rest.
