Another series ended in disappointment Sunday as the Los Angeles Angels lost 4-3 to the Boston Red Sox in Anaheim. Andrew Heaney (3-4) took the loss for the Halos as he yielded two home runs in the third inning to give the visitors a 4-0 lead they would not relinquish.
“I was just a little bit out of sync,” Heaney said. “Kind of just didn’t have that good rhythm early. “
Brian Goodwin’s home run in the eighth brought the Orange County team to within one run, but the Angels struggled with runners in scoring position, finding success just one time in six tries.
Sunday’s loss to begin September shows the Halos having lost eight of their last 12 games.
The Angels will not labor on Labor Day (Monday) but travel north to start a three-game series in Oakland on Tuesday. Jaime Barria (4-7) will get the start.
