The list of people who have “pulled papers” to replace members of the Westminster City Council in the April 7 recall election has grown to 12.

According to the city clerk’s office, as of Thursday afternoon (today), here’s the roster of people seeking to claim seats on the council, if voters turn Mayor Tri Ta and councilmembers Kimberly Ho and Chi Charlie Nguyen out of office.

  • To replace Ta: Phat Vu, Christopher Ochoa and Tai Do (current councilmember).
  • To replace Ho: Mark Lawrence, Samantha Bao Anh Nguyen, Carlos Manzo, Cu Tran, Khai Do and Camilla Overbeek.
  • To replace Nguyen: Jamison Power, Justin Weiler and Tam Do.

The deadline for returning completed paperwork – with at least 20 valid signatures of persons registered to vote in Westminster – is Thursday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m.

  1. My understanding that the first 2 candidates who get the highest vote will be replaced for both vacancy seat if both Kimberly Ho and Charlie Chi Nguyen was out.
In the case, only one vacancy then the highest vote will take that position.
If Tri Tạ is out and Tai Do take Mayor seat. The Council board will declare open seat and they may assign any suggested candidate or receiving the application from a public candidate without a public vote.
Please let me know if I am wrong. Thanks
