The winter high school sports season isn’t done yet, but spring athletics have already begun.

Four local teams are still involved in playoff action this Tuesday and Wednesday. Here’s the list as we see it (dates, times and locations always subject to change without notice. Check with the school before heading out to the gym or pool).

Orangewood Academy of Garden Grove is alive in the quarterfinal round of the Division 2AA girls’ basketball tournament. The Spartans (23-6) will be hosting Flintridge Prep (24-4) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Marina (19-11) is in the Division 6 playoffs for girls’ water polo with a game against El Modena (19-4) at Costa Mesa High at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Edison (13-5-4) is in a D-1 girls’ soccer quarterfinal contest at Long Beach Poly (26-4-2) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Perhaps the most surprising team of the four is the Rancho Alamitos boys’ basketball team, which will be in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m.  against Trinity Classical Academy of Valencia. The Vaqueros (15-12) finished third in the Garden Grove League but was the only GGL boys’ team to make it the Division 5A quarterfinals. TCA’s Knights are 18-6 and finished second in the Heritage League.
