Sweeping new orders from Orange County Health Officer Dr. Nicole Quick and the Orange County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday banned all “public and private gatherings of any number of people, including at places of work, occurring outside of a single household or living unit.”
The ban will be in place through March 31, 2020 and applies to all people “not engaged in essential activities,” which are defined as public safety and health, stores selling food and/or other products for “safety, sanitation and essential operation of residences.”

All bars are ordered closed and restaurants may supply food only for delivery or carryout.
- The City of Huntington Beach on Monday night declared a “local emergency,” cancelling most meetings and shuttering library and recreation activities until at least the end of March.
- As of Monday, there were 22 total cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) reported in Orange County, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency. Fourteen were males and eight females. All of those with the virus were adults (18 and over) and the group with the most cases was those 18-49, followed by seven people in the 50-64 group and four in the over-65 cohort. There have been no deaths locally.
- The deadline for federal income tax payment will be extended for 90 days past the April 15 deadline. Taxpayers must still file by that date, but won’t have to pay any taxes due until July 15.
- The last two scheduled weeks of performances of “Guys and Dolls” at the Gem Theater in Garden Grove are postponed. One More Productions plans on reopening the play when conditions warrant it. It was originally to run through March 29.
