OC bans gatherings, orders closures

THE CORONAVIRUS (officially known as COVID-19) is causing the cancellation or postponement of many events across the nation, and is sending the stock market reeling (Shutterstock).

Sweeping new orders from Orange County Health Officer Dr. Nicole Quick and the Orange County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday banned all “public and private gatherings of any number of people, including at places of work, occurring outside of a single household or living unit.”

The ban will be in place through March 31, 2020 and applies to all people “not engaged in essential activities,” which are defined as public safety and health, stores selling food and/or other products for “safety, sanitation and essential operation of residences.”

Also exempted are banks, gas stations, newspapers and “other media services,” home repair services and more. See this link for more:  ochealthinfo.com .

All bars are ordered closed and restaurants may supply food only for delivery or carryout.
