THE WESTMINSTER city council recall election is going to by-mail voting or at select drop-off points, by order of Gov. Newsom (Shutterstock).

Voting in person in the Westminster recall election will be exclusively by mail, with a few exceptions.

Operating under an order by Gov. Gavin Newsom as part of an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the voting that was supposed to start on March 28 and continue to April 7 has been cancelled.

According to the Orange County Registrar of Voters, closed to in-person voting were three sites previously identified for such balloting, and they are Miriam Warner Community Building, Sigler Park Family Resource Center (both in Westminster) and the Orange County Registrar of Voters in Santa Ana.

As an alternative, voters can:

If you didn’t receive a ballot in the mail or have other questions, call (714) 567-7600.

The election will decide whether to remove from office three members of the city council – Mayor Tri Ta and councilmembers Kimberly Ho and Chi Charlie Nguyen –and replace them with other persons.
