The man arrested last week in a traffic accident that took the life of a woman in Garden Grove has been found dead.

According to Master Officer Paul Ashby of the GGPD, the body of suspect Kyle Michael Morrey, 27, was found just before midnight on Tuesday in a motel room in Westminster with a suicide note and narcotics believed to have been consumed by him.

Morrey was arrested on April 15 after a traffic accident in Garden Grove at Euclid Street and Chapman Avenue in which 59-year-old Julie Varley – the principal’s secretary at La Quinta High School in Westminster – was fatally injured. He was arrested and was suspected of driving under the influence.

After being treated for his injuries, Morrey was released from a hospital while the Orange County District Attorney prepared a criminal complaint against him.

At 11:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Westminster police were called to the Executive Suites Motel, 6732 Westminster Blvd. in Westminster in reference to a possible suicide.

An investigation by the Orange County Coroner’s office indicated that the time of death was earlier that afternoon.

  1. It’s sad that people still drink and drive. Killing yourself does not bring back your victim. It just ruins the lives of all the innocent members of your family.
