The number of new confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County set a new record in Thursday’s report, hitting a highest-ever total of 229. That compares to the previous high of 156 on May 1 and 13.

According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, that number brings the cumulative cases to just under 4,000, at 3,968. No new deaths were reported. Two hundred twenty-seven people care currently hospitalized due to the COVID-19, with 79 in intensive care units.

In the area of testing, Thursday’s report shows 1,510 new tests and 61,619 cumulative tests to date.

On a city-by-city basis, Santa Ana has the most with 665, followed by Anaheim with 615, Huntington Beach with 280, Garden Grove with 198 and Orange with 190.

Local cities Westminster and Stanton have 71 and 39 cases respectively.
