Temporary business aid on agenda

A program allowing “temporary outdoor emergency commercial activity” on public and private property goes before the Huntington Beach City Council when it meets on Monday.

A temporary use permit could allow restaurants to expand their outdoor dining space, as well as allow temporary sign and banner uses.

Such permits would be issued only during the coronavirus emergency and would have to “reasonably be related” to the affects of the pandemic. Fees for the permits would be waived.

Also on the agenda are:

• an update on the status of the Ascon landfill site.
• an update on the city’s response plan to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• an update on July 4 activities.

The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. with a study session on the proposed 2020-2021 city budget, followed by a closed session, then the regular session at 6 p.m. It will be recorded and broadcast live from the council chambers at 2000 Main St.
