A citywide curfew has been declared for Garden Grove starting this evening.

Garden Grove City Manager Scott Stiles declared a citywide curfew, effective from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 3; and from 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, to 5 a.m., Thursday, June 4.

During the curfew, persons must stay indoors, off of any public street, sidewalk, park, or other public place within the city of Garden Grove.  Businesses must remain closed during the curfew days and hours.

“We are asking for the public’s cooperation in following the curfew orders so we can ensure the safety of our community, our businesses, and our first responders,” said Garden Grove City Manager Scott Stiles.

People traveling to and from work, seeking or giving emergency medical care, emergency responders, homeless, and news media are exempt from the curfew.

“Garden Grove fully condemns the senseless actions that led to the inhumane death of George Floyd that should never have happened, and must stop here,” said Mayor Steve Jones.
