THE federal money coming to Garden Grove to address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic is on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove City Council (Shutterstock).
How Garden Grove will spend its share of the federal aid sent to cities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic will be on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the City Council.
- Job creation and retention, expanded food meals for seniors and families, and personal protection equipment for first responders: $1.194 million.
- Emergency Solutions Grants to support homeless outreach services and rental assistance for people impacted by COVID-19: $602,846.
- Housing Choice Voucher Program: $517,312.
- Small Business Grant Program: Grants of $10,000 each for about 380 local businesses: $4,010,000 (about 380 local businesses served).
- Micro-Business Relief Grant Program: Grants of $5000 each for about 120 local businesses. $617,600.
The city has also applied for grants such as a $6 million request for infrastructure improvements along South Harbor Boulevard and $10,000 for a bike and hike initiative.
Also on the agenda is consideration of an implicit bias awareness training module for the city council, city commissioners and civilian (non-police) city employees. Implicit bias testing is aimed at revealing prejudices based on race, sex, gender, age, etc.
The council will meet in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. in regular session at 6:30 p.m.
