If you think law enforcement agencies will be on the lookout for drunk or otherwise impaired drivers only this coming Independence Day weekend, think again.
The cost of getting charged with a DUI runs upwards to $13,500.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the HBPD by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
HB council to appoint public works director
At its meeting on Monday, the Huntington Beach City Council is expected to finalize the hiring of a new public works director.
Also on the agenda are:
- an update on police department protocols and procedures by Chief Robert Handy during the 4 p.m. study session;
- an update by the city manager on the city’s COVID-19 response plan in the regular session starting at 6 p.m.
Westminster council to hire city manager
The hiring of a new city manager tops the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting of the Westminster City Council.
The position was a vacated by Eddie Manfro, who resigned after over seven years in the job. In the interim, Sherry Johnson, who had been city finance director, held the position since Feb. 15, 2020.
A closed session will be held at 6 p.m. and a open session at 7 p.m. The open meeting will be held by teleconference/web conference only.
